I don't necessarily agree with your definition of "negative". Even it was taken from a credible source, it would appear to be one definition among many.

In any event, I would disagree with those who take the position that truth, fact, and knowledgeable opinion should be avoided merely in order to be "positive". If something meets those criteria, as applicable, but is withheld or "spinned" for the sake of being "positive", such behavior itself is what is truly damaging.
