Urgh.. lol Ark88.. for all the energy some people put into posting endless ramblings, you'd think they'd have a clue of what they're talking about..

...

This was the most fustrating part of the THM for me. This question was misunderstood by both parties, although Suresh did answer correctly, I get the feeling Suresh is too smart to answer a "dumb question" so to speak.

As in Suresh makes a better scientist than a salesman.

...

They are talking about two very different companies(vision)

In the old days(remember 2-5years ago) POET was talking about a speed advantage at the "computer chip level"(simplified term), it was stated "speed increase DEPENDING ON APPLICATION".

If POET were to be applied at the processor level, ie: chip in you phone/computer/server, then yes there would be a theoretical speed increase, as the electrons used to make the 1's and 0's in the chip move faster in a GaAs substrate compared to Silicon.

The present POET is focused on optical engines where speed is irrelevant in that sense of measurement.

...

So it's simple really, POET is not talking about "processors" anymore, ie: 40nm chips.

They are a company focused on optical engines, where that metric no longer applies in that sense.

That's why we finaly saw an update to our outdated sales pitch.

...

10G/40G/100G, they are all standards.

Just like the 120 volts in your home wall power plugs, just because you can shove 500 volts in there, doesn't mean people want that.. but where this example differs, yes eventually in the future, everything will have speeds over 10G/40G etc, new baselines will be in the 50Gs & 100Gs etc.. but hold your boots, that's going to take a while.
