I was thinking the US dollar had dropped a lot and that was giving a good gain in US dollar terms for some Americain fund and they dumped while there was a bid.

"suddenly" 15 million shares appeared on the bid side because of US dollar gains !

And "penny stocks" (this will be no "penny stock" anymore soon) shouldn´t be allowed do that either.

Up or down shouldn´t matter, I think there are regulations in place which are not adhered to all the time and that should be ironed out by a sound working Regulations agency.
