There is also the possibility that this registration was not undertaken as a normal financing to keep us afloat beyond our current financial means. Rather, it could be that this registration is intended to be used for a partner/investor to be able to quickly obtain a sizeable equity stake once certain milestones are achieved. A shelf registration would allow for speed and efficiency in this regard. If the company was looking to do a normal equity financing, why not just annoucne that in normal course rather than a shelf registration. Clealry being able to move quickly with an offering is of import.
I am curious as to whether or not there is a Private Investment Public Equity deal in the works with a potential partner or large investor, with the shelf registration being set up to close the deal.
All of this is speculation of course, as we are left wondering what is going on behind the curtain.
