Are you attempting to be funny? If not then you certainly don't understand how capital investment/gains/losses etc. work for a large company. If they gave that money to a charity they'd get more of a tax write off.

Cliff's must have a solid financial reason to have made their investment in KWG which includes seeing a large profit down the road to compensate them for their risk. We don't know what their reasoning is and neither does anyone else outside of their boardroom.
