An interesting thought occured to me. Most of the revenue that the government gets from resource development comes from income tax and HST either directly or from support businesses. Often there is no revenue from royalties until the capital costs are recovered by the company. If the chief is saying they should get a percentage of the HST and income tax, I doubt if any government or tax paying citizen will agree to that.
