Hi Strategic Trader,

my understanding is that both, developers and fabs, need the TDK.

Imagine a chip developer receives the TDK and starts modeling a chip using the POET components ("devices" as POET Technologies calls them). Let's say his chip model consists of a bazillion POET transistors. He models them statically, simulates the dynamics and observes the physical properties.

When everything is working nicely, our developer sends a file containing the chip model to his favorite fab in order to have a million of them produced. In the fab they open the file, but – whoa! – there are references to unknown components! The model does not load! Why not? Because they have all sorts of transistors in their component library, but not the POET components. They need to have the TDK so that the POET components are no longer alien, but rather the fab equipment knows how to produce them.

At least that's my understanding.

Anyway, negotiations with fabs can proceed in parallel of course. So when the PET/TDK is released, everything is already settled and they can start immediately with whatever they are going to do.
