The capital costs for a rail spur or siding (maybe 8 or 10 km to Cliffs minesite?), and loading equipment for rail cars, could amount to a great deal of money, none of which would be paid for by anyone other than Noront. And we'd then be totally dependent on a third party for our access to markets.

A slurry pipeline could dovetail nicely with development at Webequie, to benefit that community. There would be an all-weather road in to the town, and a permanent power supply, to say nothing of jobs. Some of the development costs could readily be shared with government, I should think. And the otherwise empty trucks coming north would be able to back-haul freight at much reduced costs compared to what is charged today, based on one-way tariffs.

I think there could be a slurry pipeline in place long before there's a functioning railroad.

I like the pipeline idea. Can you tell?
