Well, I was going to mention George Royal, given the Canadian connections, but I couldn't believe anyone here would know anything about that!! Last race of his career, the San Juan Capistrano Handicap at Santa Anita (then run on closing day), I was about 14 years old, but I was there, and there was not a dry eye in the place. I think he beat a horse named Plaque ridden by Willie the Shoe!
