I would say Ajit Manocha already invests into POET Technologies.
First, his wages might seem high by POET's standards, but I believe he could get much more elsewhere. Or did he accept POET's job offer, because he didn't find anything else and did not want to live on the streets? No, I don't think so! You could regard the difference between his salary at POET and a better salary elsewhere as investment into POET.
Second, he has a reputation to lose, when he is putting his eggs in this one basket POET Technologies. I think this is also some kind of investment and he knows what he is doing.
