Eligible contributors can give up to $9,975 to a political party in any year and an additional $9,975 for each campaign period

Among the maximum donors to the Liberal Party in the Feb. 5 byelection were KWG Resources and its subsidiary, Canada Chrome Corporation, who each gave $9,975.

KWG staked claims along an esker leading to the Ring of Fire on which Cliffs Natural Resources was hoping to build an all-weather road. Cliffs has now abandoned its Ring of Fire project and KWG is continuing to lobby for a rail solution to transportation"
