Fact of the matter is that, although the FN can cause a disturbance, they can't tell a company that it can't put a processing plant in Sudbury when Sudbury wants it. They can't tell a company what to do with minerals they acquire underground because the minerals don't belong to them. They can make a case for why mining should not be allowed on their land but if that reasoning is to grab more for themselves and to try and control an independant company then I suspect they will do far more damage to their own interests than they ever would to the company. I don't condone operating in spite of a people that live on the land concerned and I believe in responsible land management, but I also suspect that there are better ways of achieving equitable solutions than might be in practice at the moment....but again, the news has a way of making things seem worse than they need to be.
