The Ring of Fire, located in the James Bay Lowlands, is home to one of the most promising mineral development opportunity in northern Ontario`s recent history. Early estimates suggest the potential for development of a world class chromite deposit, as well as discoveries of nickel, copper and platinum.

As the Executive Lead you will: • develop the strategic vision and framework to facilitate successful development of the Ring of Fire initiative • contribute to the province`s Open Ontario Plan by promoting economic opportunities for northern Ontario and aboriginal communities • partner with other ministries to develop creative solutions that meet the interests of northern Ontarians, aboriginal communities and the mining industry while achieving government business objectives

Qualifications:
Management and Strategic Leadership Skills:
• You will lead with integrity to develop inclusive and collaborative relationships with all stakeholders • You will form strategic linkages across other ministries and jurisdictions seeking opportunities for integration • You can influence change and have a proven success in managing change • You can engage staff to work collaboratively to achieve challenging goals in a politically sensitive and high profile environment • You are politically astute and have excellent communication and problem solving skills • You have outstanding analytical skills to promote excellent policy development and a modern business processes
Technical Knowledge
• Knowledge of land and resource related development and planning issues, including Aboriginal and Treaty rights related issues
• Excellent negotiation, stakeholder relations and issues management skills to build effective partnerships and engagement strategies • Familiar with decision-making structures in the public sector • Familiar with minerals sector, value-added processing, and/or infrastructure development
Frequent travel in northern Ontario is required
