Perhaps one of our more industry-linked contributors can flesh out this idea, but I'll get it started.

Voisey's Bay took off after the "doughnut" theory was disproved ( that being that the mineralization was circular, but devoid of anything in the center).

The RoF has 200 holes drilled, as of this date.

Something that could be employed in the not-too-distant future that would help Noront find the hoped-for massive lens in the center would be the Russian RIM (sic?) technology. It is expensive, but very effective. However, to employ it with the best chance of success, more than just a smattering of drill holes have to be in existence.

This is a rudimentary, possibly even flawed explanation of it: the technology is a downhole technology that can virtually 'see' through rock with very short ( microwave ) signals; so if there is a monstrous lens in the center, it can be found in this fashion. However, strategic and many drill holes need to be in existence to ensure the best chances of success, which is very high, when it is employed as it was intended to be.

Here's hoping they are considering utilizing this method, seeing as they will be re-flying McFauld's with VTEM to improve their chances as well.
