I really enjoy the positive posts and anticipations of great things to come. It is fun to imagine what might be. I also notice a lot of green thumbs for these kinds of posts thus it appears others like them too. As a matter of fact these posts consistently score higher than most anything else. It stands to reason... people like good news or the promise of it. Human nature also supports our becoming addicted to it and we suffer when reality sets in foisting occurrences upon us in conflict with our wishes. It takes discipline to separate oneself from the casino/gambling type of atmosphere one can experience having capitalized on a winning horse, team, hand of cards or anticipated winning stock. The waves of emotions that bring elation when you are winning also bring desperation when things are down. In either extreme your decision making abilities are compromised as clarity of thought is interrupted due to "emotional difficulties". How many of us have said with fist raised into the air "they won't get even one of my shares"? This is somewhat humourous given "they" can't hear you, see you or even realize that you specifically exist. All of the emotion is on your end and you are but a set of numbers in cyberspace or in a data base. A lot of what is perpetrated on the retail investor, who is taking all of this very seriously, is the product unemotional computer programming. It is rewarding and joyful when things go to plan but it is important to treat that with a degree of balance or equanimity so that we remain clear headed then and also when things take a turn for the not so desireable. There is a certain sense of accomplishment one can enjoy when they can remain calm in the face of the problematic, when one has to simply be content with observing the trying times. To be able to be in possession of that type of character is a great personal achievement few people choose to be capable of, particularly in today's instant society. The market is a great teacher and we can learn great lessons to become more than we are. Above all else, your character will be the greatest treasure you will ever own. Guard it, nurture it and keep it well. It will be the last thing you hold in this life.
