There is no doubt while the election was going on, there was a little of the unknown, with the two candidates that went to the runoff election. However, it sure seems like things are really falling into place, and Peruvian President Ollanta Humala seems to be doing an excellent job, and keeping his word. UK believes mining contribution will support social objectives in Peru

After highlighting the significant number of investments from British mining companies in Peru, the diplomat welcomed the willingness of the mining sector to support the government with the new tax, as it will enable to carry out social and infrastructure works in the country. “The first impression we got from the agreement between the mining sector and the Peruvian government shows that mining companies will support the objectives set by the government,” Dauris told Andina news agency. Moreover, the UK ambassador praised the work carried out by the Peruvian government to keep the nation as an attractive and profitable country for the mining industry. According to the last report made by Peru's private investment promotion agency (ProInversion), the United Kingdom is the second largest European investor in the country after Spain. Some British mining companies in Peru include Anglo Quellaveco Limited, Anglo American PLC and CST Mining Group Limited.
