POET makes this statement regarding the VCSEL and FET: Testing and characterization of these devices are under way, and Poet expects to require further development cycles through additional wafer processing to fully achieve the true potential for these integrated opto-electronic devices.
Just to be clear. They have not even stated in a definitive manner that they need more development cycles for these device just that they expect to require more runs to optimize and “fully achieve the true potential of these devices”.
No such statement was made about the detector and in fact the following statement is made. “These results from the first set of detector wafers produced at the production foundry provide critical proof points for Poet to introduce a differentiated detector product to the market later this year.”
In other words the first run from Wavetek produced detectors that exceed industry standards…best in class performance
“20 times higher on a three-times-smaller device relative to typical 850-nanometre PiN (P-type, intrinsic and N-type) diodes”
I believe the market has completely misread these achievements.
The news release was intended to tell the market that the detector is ready for IR sensing applications and that it is the best of the best. What the market should be expecting is what they have been telegraphing as the first NRE.
Have a good day guys. This was a good news release and provided a great deal of confidence to me in the technology viability.
