A couple days ago our partner Synopsys updated the Sentaurus TCAD software, introducing simulation project for bipolar transistors, Light-Triggered Thyristor, etc). Yesterday Synopsys Optical Solutions Group updates its LightTools illumination design software.
Synopsys Optical Solutions Group is one of the world's leading developers of optical design and analysis tools, with CODE V imaging design software, LightTools illumination design software, LucidShape products for automotive lighting design, and RSoft products for photonic and optical network design.

Mr. Warrior joining POET’s board set the stage for Innovative diode laser designs, as well as the diode manufacturing technology. The IP-IMI will create an end-to-end integrated photonics manufacturing ‘ecosystem’ in the U.S. Final selection of R&D hubs are expected to be announced by end of June/ beginning July 2015.
Exports under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
US Department of Commerce: deadline for industry comments was Friday, July 6 2015.
The ability by Departments of State, Defense, and Commerce to rewrite portions of the United States Munitions List (USML) that regulate optics technology exports under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) becomes pivotal.
The complexity of the ITAR - under both current and proposed regulations - discourages U.S. commercial industries to work for the Departments of Defense.
I wonder when the U.S. Presidential Committee for Advanced Manufacturing Partnership will weigh in.
