Google Project Ara is the next big thing in the mobile community, it’s border-less with unlimited possibilities. You know how people build PC for maximum usage? Google want you to build smartphones to your taste and specification. Never again will any mobile vendor limit you to what your smartphone can do, Google Project Ara will change all of that, at least, that’s what Google hopes its new idea can bring to the industry.

What Is Google Project Ara?

Google Project Ara was created by Motorola, but the development process was moved to Google after Motorola was acquired by Lenovo. The project is an exoskeleton that will allow smartphones lovers to modify their phones to the exact kind of functionality they crave for. For example, someone one who loves pictures, can upgrade her smartphone camera capabilities to the standard she wants. If another person prefers more RAM, that can also be upgrade effortlessly. A person will a health condition, may also prefer to install sensors on her phone for regular checks. These are many more is what Google Project Ara would bring to the mobile community.

What Is The Release Date For Google Project Ara?

Firstly, the parts of this exoskeleton have to be readily available, so users can have quick and easy access to upgrade functions. The release date for Google Project Ara isn’t yet known, but Google says it would be commercially available in 2015.

What Else Do We Know About Google Project Ara

The device will come with a frame, which will house a variety of hardware modules. This is where users can insert RAM, storage, cameras, batteries, NFC, Wi-Fi and lots. Even projectors ports could be attached. The project is just too awesome. There is really no limit to what can be achieved with it.

Now, you may be wondering, how the heck will the OS work with such vigorous task? Well, Google is currently working on a new special module of Android 5.0 that will support hot-swapping of these components.

Toshiba has already designed three working cameras, Lapka and Vestigen working on health modules for Google Project Ara. Some other big names like Nvidia, Marwell, Rockchip have equally been mentioned in this project.

Project Ara would be designed in several sizes, some designs would cost at little as $15. Thereafter, users can start inserting various kinds of modules to make Google Project Ara transform into the kind of monster smartphone they have always wanted.

A gaming module was revealed by Yezz at the MWC2015, the image below is what you can expect.

Can Google Project Ara Be The Standard Smartphone Killer?

Apple is the king of innovation, the most valuable brand for two consecutive years and recently, the biggest smartphone vendor in the world. They have enjoyed a lot of success in the mobile community, with Samsung coming in from behind lately, partly because of a 40% loss in profit last year, which was orchestrated by the embarrassing failure of the Samsung Galaxy S5.

Remember, Google failed to gain hardware market-share with its $12 billion acquisition of Motorola, but will the search giant get it right this thing around with Project Ara? Can Google pull-off a fast one with the Project Ara? Will people embrace this change to the way they interact with their smartphones? I’d like this idea, and the end-less possibilities that can be achieved with this, but the mainstream is what will decide if Google Project Ara would be sudden success or an instant failure.
