So gald to hear that there was a large crowd at the cenotaph. It seems we may not have forgotten what all of the men and women have done for us over the many years.
At 11:00am I took my poppy off my jacket, placed it on my desk in front of me, listened to CBC on the internet, and reflected as to why I am sooo very thankful for the sacrifices all of our troops have made. I am so very thankful that I am able to live peacefully in what I consider to be the most wonderful country in the world. T o live in a country where people are treated as equals, where democracy works (sometimes ;)), where I feel good about looking out for my fellow Cdn. (social healthcare), where I can drink clean water and breath fresh air. One couldn't pay me enough to live anywhere else (maybe New Zealand, because it reminds me of a mini Canada). So I say to those who fought for my freedom, thank-you so very much...I will never ever forget what you have done for me.
Now it's time to put that poppy of mine back on my car visor, where I keep it for 50 weeks of the year to remind me just how lucky we are. I think it's also time to head to the local legion to buy someone a drink.
Cheers,
MGB
PS. I reallzie this may be OT, but I also think that today we can make an exception, thank-you.
