It has been posted that the Marten River band built the airstrip, hoping to get the inside track on support work for the explorers.

There is irony here in that one of the big FN issues is protecting the environment and another is development taking place without consultation. So it sounds like "don't do as I do, but do as I say".

It would be nice if the FN all got together and spoke with one voice, but then it would also be nice if the explorer/developpers and various Government entities did the same. Don't hold your breath! It's going to be a bumpy ride, I'm afraid.
