With all due respect, "pay back", an analysis tool, is found by counting the number of years it takes before cumulative forecasted cash flows equal the initial investment. It has limited use as a measure of a proposed project's financial attractiveness, as it does not take into account the time value of money, risk, financing or the opportunity cost of capital.
