This is important because you can see where the road will go. Right through the middle of their territories. Starting from somewhere east of Ginoogaming and heading north, passing west of Constance Lake and Marten Falls and East of Aroland, Eabametoong, Neskantaga and Nibinamik. It is vitally important that we have these communities onboard.
The ROF is actually a ways east of Webequie so the road may go through or east of Marten Falls. Although to the east of Marten Falls is all muskeg - no trees or solid ground, so the road may bend west for ease of construction before turning east to get to the ROF.
Here are some English names for those that can't wrap their tongue around the Native language names.
Webequie - everyone knows this one
Eabametoong, - aka Fort Hope
Neskantaga, - aka Lansdown House
Marten Falls - aka Ogoki Post
Nibinamik - aka Summer Beaver
In my opinion, the Matawa First Nations are key to getting a road. First of all, we must come to some sort of agreement with them, and secondly, the can lobby the government for financial assistance.
