Re: Question...?/yes!! negativity ad-nauseum here these days.

Why hasn't EDIG address publicly if they were attending the CES".

My answer: If they were an exhibitor we'd already know as it's public info. 2 years in a row, they stated to have been there in a PR, mid-Feb 10-Q or both...I don't remember. We don't know if they are conducting private meetings by invitation again this year, why do they have to tell us until after the fact? Private does not mean public...

"Where are we in the product lifecycle of Nunchi"

My answer: the patents are good for 20 years. They have stated their direction is IP as their "product" meaning, we are out of the widget business.

MY ANSWER 20 YRS ... OF BEING AT THE - ( RIGHT TIME ... RIGHT PLACE )

WHO DOES NUNCHI BENEFIT?

Nunchi keeps users better informed and connected while reducing the need for their attention to communication.

Nunchi gives wireless operators new service categories which they can rely on to increase network traffic revenue.

Nunchi delivers new levels of revenue to data consolidators (such as major search engines) who can use Nunchi to gather and disseminate marketing information.

Why CES is ad industry's most important event of the year

http://www.cnbc.com/id/101317354

"It's become all about consumers; people are using devices and changing their behavior and it's happening at a rapid pace," said Starcom MediaVest Group CEO Laura Desmond. "Marketers see this event as the key place to see what's now and what's next and how to put consumers at the center so they can reach and market effectively."

Said Keith Weed, CMO of Unilever, the world's second largest advertiser: "We want to be on the leading edge, we want to be able to connect with people where they are." And where they are, Weed says, is on mobile devices, using wearable devices like fitness monitors, and using digital technology in cars. "The same people who are on their mobile phones are eating Ben & Jerry's."

Weed is also looking for new start-ups in which Unilever's marketing venture fund could invest. The idea is to find tech-driven companies in the marketing space that will give Unilver's brands innovative ways to reach consumers. For example, Unilever invested in a mobile marketing company called Brandtone, which allows the company to deliver mobile ads not just to smartphones, but more basic feature phones around the world. Now, the consumer products company is hunting for the next technological innovation to allow it to reach consumers in a more efficient way.

.... I can see Fred Pretty Busy at CES ( Private meetings ) - based on these company's needs - insert HANDAL , and there newly defined role.

Another Note : regarding Sensors .... google : ingestible sensors ( Amazing Stuff).

Happy New Year to you all , and may this be the year we have all awaited for !!

Re: Pacer : e.DIGITAL v. Motorola - Settlement has been reached !

DISCHINO ...We’ve SETTLED. If some major search engine is not interested (insert a company MOTO X, as well - they own ), and the market is "NOW" w/ - context awareness (printed in black & white)... Still has my head shaking with the synergies!! - (... AND maybe "YES " are “FOES” will become are” FRIENDS” ).

IP METRICS having a hard time evaluating the patent monetization? ... wonder WHY ? (50 less than 100 companies doing their "DD”) - Maybe it's just the "1" ... they are having a hard time dealing with.

I was in Europe last week assisting with a major company with an ERP implementation. One of our major focuses with them (has been on lessons learned).

I like to add … “we are good at managing minutes, but lousy at managing hours of productivity".

With that said, “the great posts by All with regards to RECENT postings - I walked away with the former & not the latter from my recent trip comments “- (A BIG THANK YOU!!).

@ Doni – question ?? … do you feel Microsignet can REPLACE AS2 processing of the digital certificates ( e.g. EDI transaction sets as an alternative communications –a previous/current cost savings plan from VANS for Major Corporations ? )

... All this IMO from a former Benevolent Barracuda who can firmly say that we as Share Holders on this forum "can expound on are literacy in a lacessit state in any EXTEMPORANEOUS situation - w/o Bloviating".

… Speaking of the term Bloviating – My god SUNPOOP (please keep posting - REGULARLY again!!).

Re: comments?

Comments ? – Thanks , Plank ( Big fan of your posts , and contributions to this board as well)

I like the future direction of Smart Phones , and how are patents may assist.

The Moto X, however, makes a completely different assumption: that the user benefits if the data is processed in some way. Your location and the speed you’re traveling are of more use if they help your phone understand you’re in a car, on a journey, and perhaps don’t want the full flood of notifications to come through. Your calendar works better if Google Now can offer directions based on the appointments listed in it, and your phone knows when to pipe down because you might not want it to ring.

Has Motorola got it right? The Moto X is a first-generation product, so the answer to that is probably no, not yet. There’s still a long way to go before the masses of information we share about ourselves, across multiple platforms, is being intelligently and beneficially parsed.

Still, for all its on-paper shortcomings, the Moto X leaves me hopeful that we’re at the threshold of a new age of context awareness.Pure hardware taking a backseat and meaningful analysis shifting instead to the fore. Devices that are helpful, rather than just handy. The Moto X may not end up being the star of this new generation of truly “smart” phones, but it’s the handset that opens the door.

.... and speaking more of the concerns - of mobile security ( regarding the term finger prints & signatures &authentications ).

http://www.zdnet.com/motorola-unveils-one-tap-youre-in-authentication-to-moto-x-smartphone-7000019505/

Motorola unveils one-tap-you're-in authentication to Moto X smartphone

Summary: Moto X, the first Google phone, shows one step along the search giant's authentication strategy

http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/motorolas-moto-skip-rethinks-phone-passwords-speeding-log/story?id=19981941

Apple is expected to address the issue directly in the hardware of the next iPhone. According to reports, the next iPhone -- likely called the iPhone 5S -- will have a fingerprint sensor built into the home button of the phone. It would presumably work similarly to fingerprint sensors on laptops -- after you register your print with the phone, when you tap on it you will be allowed to access the software. iOS 7, the next version of the software for the iPhone, also has a feature which requires a user to sign in with their Apple ID when the phone has been reset.

Security experts say that while these different forms of authentication are great, there is still a need for multiple forms of authentication. "Any tool that makes things more convenient but also adds additional authentication is a good thing," McAfee security expert Robert Siciliano told ABC News. "These are little computers now-- they have tons of personal information."

n I believe are Companies Patents are so, well aligned with the future direction of smart phones – and that Lightening will finally … Strike!!

“And it's MIA(Made In America)....setting a new trend for the USA and consumer electronics..”

Doni … I have my Degrees in Computer Science, and Electrical Engineering – 20 + years in IT ,and still amazed with your contributions to this board over the years ( Thank You !! ).

IMVHO – NUNCHI … Will be sought after by these innovative companies in the USA - setting the new trend.

http://www.ipmetrics.net/ipmetrics-retained-by-edigital-to-monetize-nunchi-patent-portfolio.html

The technology specified in the Nunchi patents is at the core of many of the most interesting and powerful services and devices that will be reaching consumers in the near future,” said Daryl Martin, Managing Principal at IPmetrics. “From our perspective, this portfolio will make it possible for the most innovative companies in the U.S. to lead their industries in the coming wave of interconnected and interactive sensor-based products and services.

e.Digital has a 24-year track record of innovation and significant investment in a robust intellectual property asset base. The company’s accomplishments include: developing noise cancellation products and technology that ultimately led to the industry-leading Jabra line of hands-free communication devices; employing removable flash memory in portable digital voice recorders allowing for PC-based data management; and, working closely with OEMs and corporate clients, including Hewlett-Packard/Disney, Bang & Olufsen, Gateway, Lanier Healthcare, Toshiba, Intel, and Lucent, to design and develop highly specialized technological solutions. For nearly a decade, e.Digital’s technology platform has powered portable inflight entertainment (IFE) systems used by airlines throughout the world.

“As we transition to a new and expanded phase of portfolio monetization, we are very excited to be represented by such an experienced and capable team,” said e.Digital president and CEO, Fred Falk. “While we have demonstrated success in obtaining significant licenses for our Flash-R™ patent portfolio, we believe the Nunchi portfolio presents substantial opportunities as well. Our strategy is to license companies whose wide range of products and strategic directions are most benefited by the critical rights in the Nunchi portfolio. We look forward to working with IPmetrics in this new aspect of e.Digital’s patent portfolio monetization effort .

Re: Wired.com read about MotoX

I agree interesting as all heck though ... but

I do not view them as dots ... I view them as synergies ( with the future of smart phone CA space ) that appear to be well aligned w/ e. Digital’s .... Patented - NUNCHI.

I've been a long time shareholder since the 90's , and only started to post recently ... because I believe that we are finally after ALL these years ( once again on the verge of disruptive technology - it's all IMVHO ) ... and BTW companies looking for acquisitions – just ask them how important synergies will play a role - in their determination.

Ah, so that's the way a phone should work Moto X subtly pulses with the alerts you really need, so you can decide when something is important enough to respond.

WHAT CAN NUNCHI DO?When fully deployed, Nunchi provides services in the same way that one would expect a private assistant would today. While it’s easy to see how Nunchi can manage your communications and social media, you can also expect Nunchi to determine and support your activities, health, safety, timeliness, priorities and needs. Simply put, you can expect Nunchi technologies to make your life easier by holding back the flood of information and communicating what we need when we need it!

Re: Wired.com read about MotoX

OregonGal ...speaking of accelerometers - from your post ( see recent article below , and how NUNCHI can assist).

The first phone produced from scratch by Motorola Mobility since being acquired last year by Google is chock-full of cutting-edge features.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/columnist/baig/2013/08/01/motorola-unveils-motox-smartphone/2609349/

The touchless controls take advantage of Google Now. Once turning on the feature during the initial setup and briefly training the phone to your voice — you are asked to say, "OK Google Now" three times, then you are good to go. You can then say things like, "OK Google Now, is it going to rain today?" or "OK Google Now, navigate to the United Nations." If it can't give you a definitive answer, ("OK Google Now, who will start at quarterback for the New York Jets?") you'll get the most relevant Google search results. I'm eager to try the feature out in a noisy environment such as a speeding car with the windows open.

Speaking of the car, the new phone recognizes its environment. So, if you are in a moving vehicle, for example, it can automatically put the phone into a drive mode to — among other things — say aloud the name of the person calling you. Moto X is supposed to also detect when you're no longer in the car and will change the phone's settings accordingly. I plan to put this to test.

The NUNCHI® Technologies in Action: Safety

http://www.ipmetrics.net/teen-driving-rules-enforcement-nunchi-technologies.html

The Nunchi Solution: The teen’s communication device includes sensors, an accelerometer, and GPS radio, as well as optical and acoustic sensors, with which the Nunchi Technology system can detect the situation above by analyzing the current sensor reading (e.g., position change, speed of travel, driving restrictions active) with a norm which allows the system to identify the signature described as {teen driving – limit interruptions}. Upon detecting the signature from the periodic sensor readings variations from the norms of this activity, the system responds to interruptions from different levels of the corresponding hierarchy in a specific manner. For instance, if a text message interruption arrives from the level “friend,” then the system responds with an automatic “I am driving, please do not disturb, will reply later” response and the user is not disturbed with a notification and/or ring tone as long as the driving signature persists. If, however, the interruption comes as a phone call from the level “parent”, then the caller can get an immediate response that states, for example, “Your teen is driving, is this something that can wait?”, if the parent does need to speak with the teen immediately, a second call or further interaction with the system by replying “no” to the automated message, the teen can get a notification through the car’s sound system (via Bluetooth connection) to the effect of “Your parent needs to speak immediately, please find a place to park to answer,” while the system can then call back the parent once the sensor signature has indicated the car is not moving and the teen is ready to talk safely.
