St. Elias Mines

First of all i'm a total newb. I know little about stocks and have a few questions. My apologies if these have been asked a million times already.

If and I say IF St Elias sold tesoro..how does this work? 1. Does st elias still exist or does the buyer aquire the whole package? 2. If only tesoro is aquired do we still hold shares with st elias? 3. How will I be notified if an offer is made?

By the way I'm in for the long haul.
