My guess is that HTC is known as a phone maker and Apple is the ulitimately famous phone maker. The jury was able to make an apples-to-apples (so to speak) comparison.

At the end of the day, the jury is not a sophisiticated bunch that is familiar with all the nuances of a particular case. They make their decision base on perception, comfort, preconceived notions and trial info. They're human and humans are fmailiar with Apple.
