Actually, when I first read this I discounted it as pie-in-the-sky speculation. However I looked and noticed this.

And this in a different article

< T-Mobile will likely use proceeds from the sale of its cellular towers to finance the spectrum purchase. >

Well, it might be easier to sell Cellular Towers w/o any potential encumberance hanging over it.

So perhaps not so pie-in-the-sky as I first thought.
