" in the same way it assigns data-blocks "

emit..an assignment would be a combination of, identifying a specific physical memory address (or data block within flash as you note) and then mapping that address to a virtual file.... for data identification in a specific manner of allocation.... directive structure.

MOS can be utilized for status quo data mapping, as noted... or it can be utilized for its proprietary methods of non mapping...or a combination of the two. This issue was given a wide consideration by HANDAL within his recent briefs. Even though e.Digital has significant proprietary methods, that does not preclude the patents to implement other methods or combinations, as discussed and referenced within patents .

That said...

The proprietary non mapping ability of MOS, or the logical overlay of data that is created, is created by the patented, organizational, non typical meta data methods rolled into data segments.

The meta data creates a physical connection between each data segment without a virtual directive structure. The logical overlay is something you would have to envision in your mind, as logically happening, including hierarchy issues. This relates to the physical properties of the meta data....and not addressed assigned virtual directive structures.

This is how the storage space is logically in filled by data under the proprietary methods. The data is sequentially recalled, not by where it was addressed within storage, but by the information contained in each data segment. The data can be placed anywhere without the need of specific addressing.

Heck, you might be able to place data on one server in Nebraska....and place data on another server in CA and bring the two sequentially together with some form of relational data mining.

This method can function for network issues, just as it functions in transmitting data to a storage element on a device.

Years ago, I considered that one could possibly utilize a status quo directive structure and, off that, direct independent paths of the proprietary methods.

Amazing stuff.
