vic....10 years back, or so...Intel and IBM formed a venture called VOICE TIMES ALLIANCE...to setstandardsfor what we now see as NUNCHI patents.

There's a big difference between standards vs. patents.

IMVHO, the VOICE TIMES ALLIANCE could not move forward without e.Digital giving up its patents for a standards initiative.... what Intel offered was not worth giving up on the patents.

"A sizable amount of investment would be needed with an uncertain outcome makes moving forward almost a nonstarter in the corporate culture."

IMO, it depends on the context of a situation...e.Digital is a tiny spec compared to Intel. Where I would say, Intel was trying to convince e.Digital of those facts.

We are now suing Intel for IP issues that e.Digital refused to give Intel previously.

We may not come out with a 100% value regarding the initial patents...as they will eventually become standards....

However, e.Digital managed to harness future patents, of which the VOICE TIMES ALLIANCE was all about....on the back of the prior IP....as well as Signet.
