The detector was a great success. And has already resulted in commercial interest, as a stand alone product due to it's best in class status.

The VCSEL, when/if completed may result in the receiver part of the VCSEL offered at different specifications than the previous detector, as the eptaxy won't be the same. How close the specs will be to the original, ... who knows. Maybe even better. Hope springeth eternal.
