Interesting FJ - a good illustration of things like jitter, delay, clock skew/slew, and the in-between thingies that need to be added to deal with signal-loss and capacitance issues. So much of this goes away with an optical implementation - all of those wires, temparature variances due to localized heating, buffering requirements and such - it's no surpsrise that Si has a ~3 GHz barrier - which we will break with the GT Flashlight :)
