Once again, if there is no architectural change - i.e. rebuild a current Intel x86_64 with POET and GaaS vs Si (not sure if this would happen but it would smoke) - then the fundamental architecture remains as does the underlying instruction set and hence everything on top - i.e. the O/S. 3rd party stuff is too far removed from the hardware - it always relies on the O/S for services.
