As always, a wealth of information. You've confirmed all of the scenarios I've thought about - and then some. I'm actually glad to see the open interest decreasing a bit. My strategy has been to buy an excessive number of calls on the cheap and then sell some at the appropriate time to raise funds to execute the remainder. This will allow me to obtain far more shares than I could by purchasing the shares outright. With any luck, I will long the stock for well under $1 per share and will have built a sizable position.
For a long time, the high open interest of the 2014 5's had me worried that WS heavy hitters would manage to keep the share price pinned under 5 until after expiration. But the activity the past 2 months has allowed me to breathe a little easier. I think this stock is finally getting the respect it deserves!
