Pickawinner,
Your latest 2 posts are quite relevant for the current situation.

- The Chronicle Journal ariticle gives a summary of what has been happening and suggests that the Ont. Gov. should do something about this "domestic/provincial" squabbe between CLF and KWG. It's your move Premier Wynne.
- As you have indicated, a comparison between road (private for CLF the great miner) versus RR has been documented in a consultant report and available at KWG website. All the government needs to do is read it along with the Commission ruling against CLF and quickly come to a conclusion that for long term economic planning the RR is the best solution. If the government wants to score brownie points with the folks in Ont. North, then it should fund a smaller (and public) road for passenger vehicles and light service trucks to serve the northern communities and the transporation/power/communication corridor. Note: This service road is not for monster trucks which will chew up the road in no time. Even if CLF road were public, who would want to mingle with monster trucks, since there is a suppreme rule of the road called "right of weight", and any collision with these monsters would end up with the passenger cars coming out 2nd best.

This scaled down service road (for much lighter weights) could perhaps be built for some $600M (it was reportedly the Prov. matching fund for CLF private road). The province could perhaps get some contributions from various parties to build this service road. Note that, the RR can be equipped with rail cars that can transport passengers cars (as done in many countries) for people who do not want to drive, especially in bad weather, or when the service road is closed because of accidents, etc...

This is no rocket science for all the great nation builders we have around. All we need now is some action, not talk.
