I liked in the gold documentary how when the institutions were found guilty of fraud essentially, misleading purchasers of gold into thinking they had the real physical thing stored someplace, when in fact they did not, all the penalty was for was $14M, the amount they charged clients for 'storage fees'... peanuts in comparison to what the bank made off that... and they laugh all the way to the... well back to the bank i guess. :P

The only way these large organizations pay based on history are the internal whistleblowers able to obtain hard data, aka enron, with enough physical evidence to go to the top. And don't for a second think that they don't know this and are not now protected more than ever.

A little known fact about Enron, as they sold off all assets in an effort to pay back creditors, they actually sued several banks for going along with the executives scheme to the tune of $20B and won... again, peanuts to the banks...
