Pretium

Its been a long time since I last posted - still hanging in there (oh, what a long ride)

Not directly related to CUU, but I was following a neighbouring mining property, Pretium.  I notice they are planning in being in gold production sometime this year.  I certainly am not well versed in valuations, but I notice they report 8.1 million oz gold and bought out Standard in 2010 for $450million - just sayin'.

This adds another mine to the Golden Triangle, and certainly will hightlight the area once in production.  A good friend is working there in construction, and though cold and snowy, says its pretty amazing the technology used to mine in the north.

Fingers crossed and knocking on wood.

Re: I'm out! Wish you all the best going forward

Hog - all the best & I always appreciated your contributions and agree it's healthy to have posters who can challenge.

I'm still going to hold to my smaller holding (reduced it to a bit larger than yours) - have been too long in this; but accepted awhile ago it could be a long wait. I did make some nice dollars with CUU in the good ol' days of $2.00+ but have no expectation of it being back there, sadly.

And perhaps because I live near Kamloops and its nearby 3 copper mines, espicially Tecks Highland Valley - I still feel bullish on their long-term plan for the North (they've been there before). Contracted project staff at Tck are experiencing slow-downs, but are being advised to be patient as the company is looking forward to Fort Hills and an eventual return to copper demand.

Prospekt - and if I understand correctly that you are also moving on, then for that I'm also selfiishly disappointed > regardless all the best to you and thanks for the insightful posts.

Re: Real News

"...This suggests potential for discovering larger zones of mineralization in the LaCasse-Discovery target areas..."

Call me naive, but looking for a glimmer of hope here - I'm thinking CUU wouldn't release the above statement unless it was in collaboration with TCK who have obviously been researching and reviewing.

I'm thinking my smaller investment here won't be helping my early retirement, but at least for my wife who is several years younger.

Re: Teck

Call me naive, but even mentioning SC with the S. American properties still leaves me optimistic on our future > Teck has been good for Canada, and Canada for Teck.

And please, don't confuse my optimisim with something happening soon - I made a prediction of a buy-out several years ago when many of us longs were having a rollicking good time enjoying the sp and predicting when and how much our shares would garner.

Re: Speech from the Throne

Thnx Prospect - I'm too somewhat concerned and recall posting likely a year ago, I was hoping the permit appl would've been submitted during the Tories leadership. Having said that, the Liberals know they need to support business if they are to proceed with their platform, and I'd be more concerned if I was a shareholder in a mining proposal near a larger population area, ie. Ajax mine proposal on the border of Kamloops. ; or in any tar sands development.

The NW of BC wants good jobs, and with the Liberals already putting a moratorium on oil tankers for the area and opposition to the Gateway north pipeline, it almost seems as though it could make for a stronger case of a mine with Thaltan support and no major environmental issues.

Here's hoping.

cheers

Re: Teck Ressources delays Frontier oil sand by 5 years!

with all due respect - even when an optimization study is released to EE, what's the chance of getting a resonable price if no-one knows what Teck is planning.
