Re: Tesla partners with Dalhousie U for battery research to lower costs. Fyi

It says that Jeff Dahn has expertise in silicon anodes. After a bit of research, it appears that silicon has some serious capacity advantage vs graphite. There is a major problem in longevity that arises from the greater expansion of silicon during charging, so it's not a commercially viable technology, but this may not be the case in the near future. There is already a company that has developed technology in this area http://www.nexeon.co.uk/technology-2/ which has me a little concerned. So I have a couple of questions:

1) How likely do you think it is for graphite to replaced as an anode material for lithium ion batteries in the near future?

2) If this occurs, would the remaining markets provide strong enough demand?

Electronics market with average selling price of $35 000/tonne?

The PEA states that the final market segment is from the list on page 3. Anyone have an idea what this high priced electronic application is? The source of the price was from end users under a confidentiality agreement.

Re: Offtake Agreements

Thanks rennie 69. I've learned a lot from this board, so hopefully I can give a little back or at least spark some discussion.

Re: Offtake Agreements

Lots of balls in the air indeed lol! I'm glad that we're nearing a major turning point with the PEA release. It'll be nice to see some hard numbers to get a real idea of where this is headed without having to make those assumptions. I definitely think that the the risk is far outweighed by the potential rewards, but it has certainly been a rollercoaster ride!

Offtake Agreements

Hi all,

I'm relatively new to investing, but I've been lurking here for a while and have appreciated the insight and debate while tyring to perform some due dilligence. The first forum I found (Stockouse) was full of bashers, pumpers and personal attacks and it was hard to tease out any relevant information.

Anyway, Zen's segmentation of the four target markets is very specific. We have confirmation that our grapite is in the hands of end users who are successfully using it in lithium ion battery, fuel cell, and powder metallurgy applications albeit in preliminary testing. What are the odds that the reason for this is a series off offtake agreements contingent on final testing of the product? It sure would be nice to get news off 4 offtake agreements post PEA!
