China Rising: Economics & Power

http://www.thestar.com/news/world/article/761494--beijing-plays-hardball-with-washington

"The Americans want to say, `Hang on! We're still No. 1.'"

But the world's axis continues to tilt in China's favour, Yao explains.

Economic power is inexorably shifting away from the U.S. and towards China, he says, and coming with it is power and influence.

Re: ..TFSA...2010

Traps -

Thanks very much for the reminder on getting the 2010 TFSA filled early with greens. Also thanks to your help, and this post, I now have my free-trading Cougar shares in my 2010 TFSA.

Re: Brent Cook - Au Report

And a little bit later ...

BC: .... I am not interested in small mines at all.

TGR: But you said San Gold has a small mine.

BC: It was the exploration potential that I bought into, not the mine—which I am looking at as getting bigger. When I went up there, I walked the ground and could see parallel structures that should amount to a lot more gold on the property. That turned out to be the case.

TGR: So you still see some upside potential on it?

BC: Yes, depending on the gold price. Keep in mind that everything I'm saying here is based on the context of $1,100 gold.

Re: Property maps (Mineral Disposition Maps - MB GIS)

Picked this up at the convention on the weekend.
You can get good information --once you get used to it and the scale.
If you go to the "Mineral Dispositions" GIS - best is to click on FIND (the binoculars) and enter "SAN", "COUGAR", "BISON" etc... whatever you are looking for. A list of mining claims in Manitoba will show up. Click on the number in blue - its a hotlink to the claim.... you may wish to zoom out (-glass) and click on the claim to get a wider view.

NOTE: Another intersting GIS is the "Assessment & Mineral History" one - didn't play with it too much but you can get reports and historicals on claims.

Winnipeg Mining SHOW:
I stopped by SAN's booth to listen to Bill for a bit. They were giving out GOLD MINE "nugget" bubble gum (not very good) - but rumored to have a nugget in one (not sure that was real or rumor). I didn't stay long, but what was interesting was seeing the different samples from areas (Hinge, Deep, etc). The Deep -- was measurable different (darkest rock) and had the most visible gold present. This was pre-007.

Re: Discussion of the recent drilling result/s

"SAN" in Japan and Korea means "Mountain".
With a few more news releases, folks will figure out which is the right.
