The '584 had little, if anything, to do with the J3 settlement. ARM is the one that intervened into the case in order to raise the 584, and was successful as a result of the Markman --- however, that had nothing to do with the '336 and other MMP patents.

Instead, the J3 cases were settled primarily due to the validity issues that the J3's lawyers had raised. Remember, the PTO exams were still ongoing at that time, so no one knew what the outcome would be. That is now largely behind us IMO.

So, the J3 cases were virtually the opposite of the current T3 cases. In the J3 litigation, infringement was likely in our favor (except as to ARM), but validity loomed large --- in the T3 litigation, validity is all but moot as a result of the PTO re-certs,, but infringement has not yet been clarified.
