...why was one of the more moderate contributors to this forum banned?

What exactly did he contribute other than constantly berating others for "whining"? That was his trademark, in my most humble opinion, and the only contribution he offered for too long. He asked to be removed and Agoracom granted his request. He returned under another moniker and apparently violated one (or more) of Agoracom's Six Rules of Use and was banned.

You also have asked Agoracom to remove you from this forum. Why would you continue posting if your desire to be removed is so strong?
