Tesla, who have never made a profit, made 33,000 vehicles last year against 65,000,000 cars sold worldwide so the big boys aren't going to lose much sleep even if Tesla double their figures, also there are only about 10k charging points against 122k gas stations in the US which needs to improve massively before electric vehicles become a serious contender. However if Apple do enter the market then things could change very quickly and we could see domestic graphite miners become very valuable, until then it's wait and see time.
