So, we pick our poison. Which is less bad: share dilution or hedged production?

I don't have a good sense as to which is less bad. But, I remember (painfully) well that not too long ago share prices of majors with hedge books were discounted relative to share prices of their unhedged peers, and that there was a consequent mad rush to buy out forward hedges.
