I think Prechter is much more of a stopped clock than a functioning one. Saying the Dow is headed to triple digits for all practical purposes might as well be equivalent to zero. Even if it "only" goes to 999 that's a 90% drop from here, and even more from it's peak. That would undoubtedly result in a drop of 95-99% in the broader averages. In short, the end of the world as we know it. Your broker wouldn't be around to safeguard your holdings. I have more faith that bernanke, angela, trichet, mervyn, and the whole cast of characters will meet the competitive devaluation challenge.
I say the Dow is flat five years from now. My DOW 10K hat will never go out of style. But that relates to dollars. The Dow will be 10-15% of where it is now measured in gold. JMHO.
