Within the Rice Lake region, the Ross River Pluton forms the dominant feature for determining potential mineralization. The Ross River Pluton is located southeast of Rice Lake. The current geologic model notes that this pluton is slightly eliptical towards the east and west, indicating compression forces from the north and south. The theory is that these forces caused the pluton to "spill out" towards the northwest and the southeast as it cooled.
Mineralization in these types of plutonic rocks tends to form near the edges of the deposit, especially in these kinds of "spill" areas which are forced away from the central body of volcanic rock. The Rice Lake mine is located in the northwest "spill" area....Thinking out loud, SKP holds 50 % of this spill on the Strike Point claims adjacent to the Rice Lake Mine.
