Gold manipulation???

One might be tempted to question why gold would drop significantly 15 minutes before the North Amarican markets opened this morning. Could it have anything to do with November stock option expiry this friday? Perhaps the hedge trade " short gold equities long gold" being unwound? Seems suspicious non the less.
