I can't imagine any reason for the reduction of the financing so quickly after announcing it, other than an offer from a major to take a piece of the company. Most likely not too big a piece, however a foot in the door in order to get some real access to the books. In the case of Golden Eagle, I believe AEM called it a strategic investment that ultimately forced Goldcorp's hand. AEM was at a big disadvantage because of G's proximity to the find and ultimately had to walk away selling their shares to G for a nice profit. I cannot think of any other reason that would not be construed as a little bush.
