When drilling or driving on ice it is a combination of weight and VIBRATION>>The Vibration will shatter the ice in a few hours and the rig will fall through the ice..Thickness matters but only as a time factor..The thicker the ice the longer the vibrating object will stay on top of the ice..but the vibrations will eventually win and the rig will take a bath..
