I thought I would share an answer I provided to someone who felt that Geoff had retired as a result of the new management applying POET in a hybrid application.
It should be noted that this initial application is not a departure by POET in terms of the first optical interface chip. It was always envisioned as the first approach and was referenced as the near term optical interconnect in the first white paper. We can see one of Geoff’s designs that allows for “hybrid bump bonds for CMOS DSP connections to Si submount” at time 19:53 of the Empire club presentation.
