In order to avoid the denied loss on attempt to move PTK shares to registered accounts from non-registered ones, one strategy would be to obtain the funds from another source first (even if have to borrow) and make the contribution to either TFSA or RRSP and buy the shares you had intended. After you have purchased the shares you want in your registered account, you could then sell the same amount of shares from non-registerted and use funds to repay the source of funds in step one. As long as you don't buy more PTK shares for 30 days after this, your loss will be allowed.
