I’m just back and see the forum is in emotional rollercoaster drive ..... wow

Luxmux - great news - once again our team executes on plan, in time and with amazing ease.

May 17th Dr. Venkatesan informes us at the Town Hall Meeting THM00:30:30 – ..... Sensors come in the form of electronic sensors, gas sensors, photonic sensors. So photonic sensing cost points are moving down and they are starting to become a little bit more pervasive now. In fact, I think one of our customers in Canada, in the Alberta region, in Calgary, is actually using our photonic sensing elements to detect shear or structural health of their oil and gas pipelines and they measure steamed water with these light sensors.

August 30th we are informed via press release: POET expects revenue in the second half of 2016 to exceed $2,000,000, driven primarily by the increased sales of sensor products weighted toward the end of the year.

October 12th we are informed via press release: POET Technologies and Luxmux Technology enter into supply agreement and strategic partnership. POET Technologies, through its wholly owned subsidiary DenseLight Semiconductors, will design and manufacture multiple wavelength SLED sets for Luxmux to integrate into products that are used across a number of photonic applications. These products will benefit from significant system-level advantages including compact size, accuracy and stability to provide best-in-class price performance. The agreement is structured as a strategic partnership to ensure the seamless integration of devices into Luxmux’s Broad Spectrum Tunable Superluminescent Diode (BeST-SLEDTM) butterfly package. This strategic partnership is expected to enable unique capabilities in the exacting and demanding fields of bio-medical applications, energy, material characterization, metrology, optical device characterization and remote sensing.

and our sherlock’s to put the spotlight on - thanks go to jets911 - disco68 - sonum!

Luxmux has partnered with a major oil and gas instrumentation company, and is working closely with heavy oil producers on a pilot demonstration of Luxmux’s infrared sensor and related equipment. Luxmux is building state-of-the-art flow loops with its partners to demonstrate the technology. The next step is a full-scale demonstration at the boiler and at the well site.

Execution at its finest, communication crystal clear - I would say!
I'm amazed by the apparent ease our management has in cherry picking top-notch companies working at the edge of technology.

Luxmux tech is called - Silicon Nanophotonic Fourier Transform Near Infrared Spectrometer-on-a-chip and the long term goal is "The first targeted industry is oil and gas because it’s right in our back yard, but the oil industry is just the beginning, sayis Mr. Dattner. Many industrial processes can benefit from these new capabilities and we plan to monetize current applications as the technology evolves to our ultimate vision of a consumer ready spectrometer integrated into your smart phone.”

and there is more to come on POET’s sensor roadmap - I’m patiently waiting to be updated in regard of:

Medical and healthcare:
THM 00:59:23 – Medical and healthcare is actually really exciting. It’s just starting in terms of growth where we can see a lot of customers pulling for some of our solutions as they look at non-invasive ways to test you for blood glucose.
Every time you go to an eye doctor and they scan your retina they’re using SLEDs actually, gallium arsenide based SLED’s that’s what’s being used for all the optical Optical coherence tomography (OCT) applications.

Structural health monitoring:
THM 00:59:53 – Structural health monitoring has become really important as people start monitoring structural health of … actually the biggest growth opportunity we’ve seen actually has been in wind farms. I didn’t know this, but I’m learning new things all the time, so apparently with wind farms you have to measure the structural health and stress of all of your turbine arms, and that is done with photonic sensors today, so every turbine arm and wind farm, actually in Germany, there is a big company in Germany that we’re talking to and they are interested in photonic sensing and those kinds of applications for structural health.

THM 00:58:53 – Photonic sensing, we talked a bit about it. I have a sense of what the TAM is, I mean again, a multi billion dollar TAM in terms of the total market and growing. DenseLight today has a presence in Test & Measurements and Guidance and Navigation, especially with driverless cars, autonomous vehicles, these gyroscopes that are used for driving and navigation are becoming more important and that is another area of presence for sensing.

and all of the above is only one of POET’s roadmaps, further two research initiatives are already in the pipeline.

mhhh .... pedal to metal

Cheers
